Home made alcohol.
Rakija is a traditional alcohol drink of the Bulgarians. Its taste is similar to the well-known brandy's one. The Rakija is produced from the pulp of fermented fruits. The people in some villages still make the drink using centuries-old recipe. After January 1st 2007, with Bulgaria becoming a member of the European Union, the government imposes imperative tier shackles to home made alcohol. Now brewage is allowed only in licensed distilleries under strong sanitary and tax control.
